This composition is based on a 5-7-5 rhythmic structure, just as Haikus are based on a 5-7-5 syllabic structure. Though the music moves quickly, you can count "12345 1234567 12345," "12123 1212123 12312," or "Short-Long, Short-Short-Long, Long-Short" for each of the bass / rhythmic cycles.

This music was inspired by a string of Haikus I wrote one summer; fueled by strong java brewed with lavender.
